Called "shinrimei" in China, where they originate, watermelon radishes are green on the outside and hot pink on the inside. They've become quite popular in recent years, especially in the fancy restaurant set, for their vivid magenta color and delicious, mild (for a radish) taste. The leaves are also edible and shouldn't be wasted. This plant is very easy to direct seed and can be planted throughout the season. Our seed was grown in Wisconsin by Kass McKinnon and Clint Freund.
GROWING TIPS: Direct seed after danger of last frost spring, or anytime through mid-summer. Seed 1/4-1/2 inch deep. Plants should be 3-5 inches apart in rows 12-24 inches apart.
