'New Red Fire' has become one of the standard red lettuces for production farmers, with large frilly looseleaf heads. It's uniform, resilient, and very slow to bolt, with little to no bitterness in the leaves. Our seed comes from our friend Jennifer Williams of Wild Dreams Farm in Vashon Island, Washington, who says this about it: "Wonderful lettuce variety whose leaves are green at the base and dark red at the tips. Appearing all red, the green is a lovely surprise at harvest time! Will form loose heads but shines as an ingredient in salad mixes. Expect a bountiful harvest from this type as it is slow to bolt and a vigorous grower. Sow in early spring and every two weeks for a continuous harvest. 30 days for baby greens, 65 for a full head."
