Another very unique tomato from Joseph Lofthouse, with huge potential for breeding and selection work. Joseph is looking to get feedback from growers on this tomato (and others associated with his ongoing tomato projects). We recommend you keep this and other of Joseph's "promiscuous" tomatoes isolated from other tomatoes you want to save. But if you're looking to make crosses and breed new tomatoes, look no further!

From Joseph:

"William Schlegel of Ronan, Montana, has been a close collaborator on The Beautifully Promiscuous and Tasty Tomato Project since it’s inception. He is a botanist by training, and is young and full of zeal. He has provided a lot of insight and shared useful germplasm. He did several growouts in isolated fields. One of the isolation plots was used to grow a large amount of seed from one of the very early crosses, which was made by collaborator Malcolm Schraedenderfritz. He called it ‘Exserted Orange.' We sent seed to Experimental Farm Network’s seed catalog this winter. We don’t have good data about whether or not it is self-incompatible. The flavor profile is lovely, and structurally, the flowers are promiscuous-looking, so it’s moving in the right direction. Orange colored fruits are tending towards being favored in the taste tests. We hope Experimental Farm Network customers [you're part of the network!] will help us gather data about disease tolerance." You can send reports to garden [@] lofthouse.com.
