'Benne' is the heirloom West African sesame variety brought to this continent and stewarded by the Gullah Geechee people and their ancestors in the Sea Islands of Georgia and South Carolina. Sesame is surprisingly easy to grow and with its beautiful foxglove-like flowers is actually quite easy to grow. Our seed was produced by the great Amirah Mitchell of Sistah Seeds in Emmaus, Pennsylvania.
