'Aji Sopa' is an heirloom hot pepper from Puerto Rico. Grower and pepper breeder Kevin Bane got the seeds from our mutual friend Julio Lopez of Hatillo, Puerto Rico, in the northwest of the island. Here's what Kevin says about these beauties: "These peppers produce en masse, with a single plant capable of producing upwards of 3,000 fruits! These are extremely hot and they are perfect for drying to make chili flakes to add to soup or sprinkle on top of pizza if standard red pepper flakes just aren’t enough for you. They grow upright and change from green to orange to red. This is an absolutely wonderful variety that I would love to see grown more widely."

IMPORTANT NOTE: Kevin is an experimental pepper grower and typically grows most his peppers in the same field with little isolation distance. This allows the possibility for a small percentage of his seed (2-3%) of any given "cultivar" or "breeding population" to be crossed up. We are comfortable with this possibility. Mostly the cultivars are very stable. And also, given EFN's propensity for selling experimental grex and genetically diverse populations, we don't expect this deter most our customers.
