'Candy Mountain' is a good old-fashioned open-pollinated yellow sweet corn selected in Montana in the 1970s from the old hybrid 'Kandy Korn' variety. No doubt due to its Montana heritage, it's known for having good cool-soil emergence. It also ripens over a short season, in just 70-80 days. Apparently this corn has a mix of "sugar enhanced" (SE) and "normal sugary" (SU) genes, so some individual kernels will be sweeter than others (and their sweetness can last for a few days after harvest). This combination results in a delightfully rich and complex flavor.
Our seed was grown by our dear friend Clint Freund of Cultivating the Commons in Amery, Wisconsin.
