This is the European standard variety of this classic market-garden heirloom herb and green. Chervil is essential dried in the famous French fines herbes mixture as well as fresh in the traditional Provençal mesclun salad mix. Chervil has a mild anise or tarragon-like flavor. It can be grown as an annual or — as the name indicates — overwintered as a biennial. In a cold-frame, it can often produce greens all winter in most climates.
GROWING TIPS: Direct-sow (surface sow) in well-prepared soil almost any time of the year (except the heat of summer). Thin plants to 8-12" apart.
