Snowball Y Improved' was Introduced by Ferry-Morse Seed Company in 1947, developed from the 'Snowball' cultivar which is documented as early as 1884. The name comes from the "self-blanching" snow-white heads. Well-grown examples of this variety will produce dense 6-inch wide heads of cauliflower tucked between silver-green edible leaves. Heads way 1 to 2 pounds. Considered an excellent variety for home or market use, well-adapted to short season areas, and producing relatively compact plants. Planted in spring or fall, especially suited to milder climates.
