The Dry Prairie Mix is designed for slopes and well-drained uplands, but really any part of the country that is entering into more frequent drought conditions. In Minnesota, EFN co-founder Dusty Hinz is observing far more frequent periods of extreme heat and drought in the Twin Cities, and we wanted to have a prairie mix available that can survive these conditions. The native perennial flower species are such vital habitat. These are prairie plants, so they should have a good chance at survival in most of the temperate US, and even places further south.
Our seed was produced by Shooting Star Native Seeds in Spring Grove, MN.
GROWING TIPS: Broadcast seed over prepared area in the fall sometime before the ground freezes, so the seeds can go through natural winter stratification. Tamp it down for seed to soil contact. You can sprinkle hay or straw over the planting for coverage, if you want.
