From Wild Mountain Seeds: "After the discovery of this extra-large deep-red Italian sweet pepper in our 2017 sweet pepper breeding plots, Casey exclaimed “Holy Italian!” and the name stuck from there. In the F5 selection of the original discovery these Italians can reach almost 1 foot in length! The skin has a beautiful, light striping ripening to a deep dark red. Flavor is divine with thick flesh and a beautifully complex sweet flavor. Farmer friends of Casey’s grew these well in gardens from Montana to Virginia with good plant stature and great yields. The plants produce a heavy crop, and the size creates unique marketing opportunities to chefs and at farmers markets! An impressive pepper bred in the Rocky Mountains!"
GROWING TIPS: Start seeds indoors in March. After danger of frost transplant to garden with 16-18 inches between plants.
