Formerly known as Aster divaricatus, this woodland perennial (full-partial shade) has pretty star-shaped white flowers with yellow to purple-red hearts. The young leaves of this species are cooked and eaten. White wood aster is an excellent pollinator plant, blooming earlier than most asters (September through November). Seed in fall or spring.
