Lofthouse's Fastest Dry Bean Grex
Origin: Paradise, Utah
Improvement status: Grex/Breeding Material
Seeds per packet: ~40
Germination tested: 12/2018: 92%
This is another beautiful mix of seeds originating with famed landrace farmer and breeder Joseph Lofthouse of Paradise, UT. These seeds come from Casey Piscura of Wild Mountain Seeds in Colorado. Bush-type beans develop into a range of colors, from solid black and grey to brown and gold, with various mottled forms in between. The speed of growth and ripening of these beans is their biggest selling point (though they are gorgeous and delicious as well!): according to Casey they'll mature and dry down even when planted "too late" in Zone 3!
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS: Direct seed after danger of last frost. Rows could be a 12-16 inches apart, plants could be 6-10 inches apart. Harvest in waves as pods dry, or pull entire plants when most of the pods are dry, all the while watching the amount of rainfall as heavy rains can mess with drying pods.
