Law Pani Shak is a delicious vegetable-type bottle gourd from Bangladesh, best eaten when still young (between 3 and 7 inches in diameter). The fruit at this stage is somewhat like a firm zucchini. If grown to full maturity it is not a great variety for making bowls or other vessels, as it was truly bred for good eating, not bowl-making. We got these seeds from a small shop in Jackson Heights, Queens, which caters to the area's South Asian and Himalayan communities. Our seed was produced by our friend and colleague Lindsay Klaunig in Ohio.
