Germination tested 12/2019: Botanical sample - not germination tested
Life cycle: Perennial
This ornamental perennial is native to parts of the Midwest, Great Plains, and New England. Easily grown in full sun in well drained soil. Its waxy foliage allows it to conserve moisture and withstand drought. Very pretty and impressive flowers give way to ornamental and persistent seed pods. There is some history of use as medicine, including for chest and stomach pains, and as a treatment for chills and fevers, but not much information is available. Pollinators love this plant, which is a great addition to any perennial garden.
