Life cycle: Perennial

Yarrow has long been considered a veritable pharmacopeia for herbalists. Its importance to cultures around the world is testified to by all of its names (see list below). The plant grows to roughly 2 feet high and 1 foot wide. It prefers medium to dry soil, and thrives in full to part sun. Its sprays of prolific white compound blooms flower from June to September. It's a valuable plant to butterflies, moths, and beetles.

Some traditional medicinal applications include: fever, common cold, hay fever, absence of menstruation, dysentery, diarrhea, loss of appetite, gastrointestinal tract discomfort, toothache, bleeding hemorrhoids, wounds, pelvic cramps, bloating, and gas.
