This is a favorite Hungarian heirloom. Its name means "golden apple." The sprawling indeterminate plants produce large clusters of medium-small yellow tomatoes with a mild flavor. Like other yellow tomatoes, this is a rather low-acid tomato, making it great for heartburn-sufferers. It has a pleasing sweetness though, which makes it great for salads, sauces, or especially tomato jam or butter. We got our seed stock from Seed Savers Exchange in Decorah, Iowa.
GROWING TIPS: Start seeds indoors in March or early April, transplant outside after danger of last frost. Space plants 24-36 inches apart. They will benefit from a trellis or tomato cage. Full sun preferred.
