4' Hazelnut Wood Garden Stakes 1/2"-3/4" diameter "Bamboo of the North"
After years of experimentation, Philip recommends hazelnut bushes be coppiced every 10 years. Hazelnut produces beautiful, long, straight, skinny, hard stems that are great for building garden trellises with. Hazel stems are also great for building wattle-style fencing.
The photo shows the various lengths and diameters that we offer.
These stakes are 4 feet minimum length. One end is cut with a point, the other is cut flat.
These stakes (1/2 inch to 3/4 inch diameter) are best suited for pea trellises, or other comparable plants in terms of weight, and are easier to weave (for wattle-style fencing) than stakes with a thicker diameter.
All of our stakes are untreated.
