This fun population from breeder Joseph Lofthouse in Paradise, Utah, started out as a grex between Acorn and Delicata squash. Over the years they have been selected for great taste, long-storage, and easy culinary use (non-woody skins). The primary goal of this breeding project is selecting for a great-tasting Cucurbita pepo winter squash without any regard for the shape or color of the fruits. Every fruit is tasted before saving seeds in every generation. Orange and yellow fleshed fruits are the most flavorful, therefore selection criteria is to not save seeds from fruits with white or light-colored flesh. If you want delicious, short-season winter squash on the Acorn-Delicata spectrum, look no further! The parents of these seeds had bush-type vines, so expect most of these to as well. Plant after danger of frost has passed. Roughly 85 days to maturity.

GROWING TIPS: Direct seed or transplant in plant starts mid to late May, maybe early June. Plants should end up maybe 4-5 feet apart. They are bush-types so may withstand being a little closer to each other.
