This heirloom sunflower from Hungary produces foot-wide flower-heads loaded with large black seeds that are protein rich and delicious. It was introduced by the Seed Ambassadors Project, started by our friends Sarah Kleeger and Andrew Still of Adaptive Seeds in Oregon. They collected it from a farmer named Martin Ringhoffer in Hungary. This is a great variety for pressing your own sunflower oil, but they're delicious for snacking on too. Plants grow 5 to 7 feet tall, and flower heads ripen in 80 to 85 days. Our seed was grown by Henry Brennan Allsworth of Winnower Farm in Boise, Idaho.
