Thank you for supporting our non-profit mission! Orders may be delayed by a couple weeks due to the immense interest in our seeds. We're still a very small organization so we appreciate bearing with us!
These oilseed sunflowers were selected for robust and productive plants with seed heads yielding nice plump seeds. The population will produce primarily 'single head' plants with a few pretty multi-head stems good for decorations. This grex (freely interbreeding mix) is a result of selecting from 'Rostov' and 'Peredovik' sunflowers, pollinated as the bee saw fit. Seeds are great for fresh eating or pressing for oil. Grown for us in humid southeast Michigan by Great Lakes Staple Seeds.
GROWING TIPS: Plant rows 2 ft apart, with seeds about every 6 inches during planting. Once plants reach several inches tall, thin to the most robust every 12 to 18 inches. Rabbits may help with the thinning as well!
