Excellent heirloom bread wheat from Bordeaux, France. Awnless, hard, red winter wheat (though it will grow as a spring wheat in most places too). Popular since the 19th century, generations of French bakers have prized this landrace for its rich and nutty flavor. High-yielding, awnless, and easy to thresh. The plants are quite resilient, resistant to lodging (falling over) even in heavy rains. Can handle heavy clay soil where other wheats might fail. Clearly Bordeaux isn't just about wine!

Our seed came to us from Dusty's friend Kurt Kimber, an organic farmer in Northfield, Minnesota. Kurt is also a member of MN350.
